Former Aspall Cyder chair shares his momentous journey at Ipswich Suffolk Business Club event

Oct 15, 2018

Ipswich Suffolk Business Club were delighted to host a lunch with Barry Chevallier Guild, the former chair of Aspall Cyder, and hear his fascinating story with the iconic brand.

Local business leaders joined Barry Chevallier Guild at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall on 6th September to hear his momentous journey with Suffolk brand Aspall Cyder, how he built the brand and his mixed emotions on selling the family business in a multi-million-pound deal to international brewing giant Molson Coors.

Barry spoke about the captivating history of Aspall Cyder - which was started by Clement Chevallier at Aspall Hall in 1728 and has been a family-run business for eight generations - including why they spell Cyder with a Y and how the company underwent many transformations, before the sale to Molson Coors.

Barry also shared his favourite moments in the business, what he is most proud of, and what Molson Coors will bring to the company. Going forward, Barry is seen as the ‘conscience’ of the business and will support Molson Coors with the brand’s strategic direction.

Luke Morris, chair of the Ipswich Suffolk Business Club, said: “It was fascinating to hear from Barry Chevallier Guild first-hand about the story behind Aspall Cyder. He was a great guest speaker and had a wealth of knowledge to share with our members. We were delighted to host him.”
